ELearning is becoming increasingly popular, for the most part because digital devices that facilitate it are becoming numerous among consumers. The iPad may have led the way, but tablet PCs from Samsung, Amazon and other companies have made it possible for almost anyone to afford these mobile devices that can access the internet and run a variety of software types.
Every day, more companies and educational institutions are using eLearning processes to streamline their operations. For example, Shoreline Patch reports that Shoreline Community College has become one of the first colleges in the state of Washington to make eLearning a critical component of their curricula. This makes it quite a bit easier for instructors to share documents and presentations with students during classes.
However, eLearning also helps with the operational elements of teaching. For instance, Shoreline's efforts include the use of alerts for students about class cancellations, emergency contacts and phone numbers for inquiries about billing and administrative matters and even remote attendance for pupils who can't make it to campus. Besides adding functionality to in-class lectures, eLearning also allows colleges and other educational institutions to reach students with important information wherever they're located.
