There are many reasons to embrace eLearning, but one of the most important might be when training employees to use certain types of software. That's because there is a tremendous number of programs and applications released each week that numerous companies are implementing every day. Consequently, businesses that want to remain competitive need highly trained workforces that can properly use these applications after short training periods.

However, training can be very confusing when it comes to software. Even the most seasoned PC veterans will have trouble following written directions despite sitting in front of a computer that has the software in question installed. Directions such as, "Select File, click Options, select the tab for Advanced, uncheck the dialog box for Auto Save and click Save Changes," seem straightforward but can be hard to follow.

Thankfully, eLearning development allows companies to use screencasting to their advantage. Screencasting is simply the practice of recording what's on a computer monitor for a short period of time. A screencast allows trainees who are undergoing eLearning to actually observe simple and complicated processes in a way that will resonate with them well after they've finished their training sessions.
